Psalmody
Psalm 144 (1-8)
Ant. Be it ever God’s will to bless the purity of our views and permit nothing which may be to the detriment of the work that is confided to us. (1846 letter to Fr. Guigues)
Blest be the LORD, my rock,
who trains my hands for battle,
my fingers for war.
God is my love, my fortress,
my stronghold, my saviour,
my shield in whom I take refuge,
who subdues the peoples under me.
LORD, who are we that you regard us so,
mere human beings, that you keep us in mind,
people who are merely a breath,
whose days are like a passing shadow?
Lower your heavens, O LORD, and come down.
Touch the mountains; wreathe them in smoke.
Flash your lightnings; rout the foe.
Shoot your arrows, and put them to flight.
Reach down with your hand from on high;
rescue me, save me from the many waters,
from the hands of foreign foes
whose mouths speak empty words,
whose hands are raised in perjury.
Glory to the Father…
Ant. Be it ever God’s will to bless the purity of our views and permit nothing which may be to the detriment of the work that is confided to us.
Psalm 144 (9-15)
Ant. Love one another, show due deference to one another and you will avoid unhappiness; God will bless all your undertakings. (1848 letter to Fr. Semeria)
To you, O God, will I sing a new song;
I will play on the ten-stringed harp
to you who give kings their victory,
who redeemed your servant David,
from the evil sword.
Rescue me, free me from the hands of foreign foes,
whose mouths speak lies,
whose right hands are raised in perjury.
Let our sons then flourish like saplings,
grown tall and strong from their youth;
our daughters graceful as columns,
as though they were carved for a palace.
Let our barns be filled to overflowing
with crops of every kind;
our sheep increasing by thousands,
tens of thousands in our fields,
our cattle heavy with young.
No ruined wall, no exile,
no sound of weeping in our streets.
Blessed the people of whom this is true;
blessed the people whose God is the LORD!
Glory to the Father…
Ant. Love one another, show due deference to one another and you will avoid unhappiness; God will bless all your undertakings.
Canticle (Rev 11:17-18, 12:10b-12a)
Ant. We are the ministers of God’s mercy. (1837 letter to Fr. Guigues)
We praise you, God Almighty,
who is and who was.
You have assumed your great power,
you have begun your reign.
The nations have raged in anger,
but then came your day of wrath
and the moment to judge the dead;
the time to reward your servants the prophets
and the holy ones who revere you,
the great and small alike.
Now have salvation and power come,
your reign, O God, and the authority of your Anointed One.
For the accusers of our loved ones have been cast out,
who night and day accused them.
By the blood of the Lamb have they been defeated,
and by the testimony of your servants;
love for life did not deter them from death.
So rejoice, you heavens,
and you that dwell therein!
Glory to the Father…
Ant. We are the ministers of God’s mercy.
Reading
Hope is our way of being in the Church. It is foundational in all that we believe. It carries us forward in mission. As we await the second coming of Jesus, we evangelize as persons of hope to bring the Good News to the poor and to care for the earth, our common home. This hope that we bear, in turn, brings hope into our own religious life and commitment.
(Acts of the 37th General Chapter)
Responsory
We will let our lives be enriched by the poor and the marginalized as we work with them
-We will let our lives be enriched by the poor and the marginalized as we work with them
for they can make us hear in new ways the Gospel we proclaim
-the poor and the marginalized
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit
-We will let our lives be enriched by the poor and the marginalized as we work with them
Canticle of Mary
Ant. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.
My heart is radiant, overflowing with joy,
for you have loved my lowliness.
You have shown me great favour;
all people will call me blest.
Your mercy extends throughout the ages
toward those who revere your holy name.
You have revealed your strength,
scattering the proud of heart.
You dethrone the powerful
and lift up the lowly.
The famished are filled;
the rich sent empty away.
Your people Israel you have remembered,
true to your loving kindness,
just as you have promised long ago
to Sarah and Abraham.
Glory to the Father…
Ant. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.

Lord’s Prayer
Concluding Prayer
From our earliest days, O God, you call us by name. Make our ears attentive to your voice, our spirits eager to respond, that, having heard you in Jesus your anointed one, we may draw others to be your disciples. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God for ever and ever. Amen.
