Psalmody
Psalm 132 (1-10)
Ant. Let us be of good heart and undismayed by difficulties. (1847 letter to Fr. Guigues)
O LORD, remember David
and all the hardships he endured,
the oath he swore to the LORD,
his vow to the Strong One of Jacob.
“I will not enter the house where I dwell,
nor go to the bed where I rest;
I will give no sleep to my eyes,
to my eyelids I will give no slumber,
till I find a place for the LORD,
a dwelling for the Strong One of Jacob.”
We heard of it at Ephrata;
we found it in the plains of Yearim.
“Let us go to the place of God’s dwelling;
let us bow down at God’s footstool.”
Go up, LORD, to the place of your rest,
you and the ark of your strength.
Your priests shall be clothed with righteousness;
your faithful shall ring out their joy.
For the sake of David your servant,
do not reject your anointed.
Glory to the Father…
Ant. Let us be of good heart and undismayed by difficulties.
Psalm 132 (11-18)
Ant. We must follow the indications of grace and not force anything. (1844 letter to Fr. Honorat)
The LORD swore an oath to David;
God will not go back on his word:
“A son, the fruit of your body,
will I set upon your throne.
If your sons hold fast to my covenant,
and my decrees that I shall teach them,
their sons, in turn, shall sit
on your throne from age to age.”
For the LORD has chosen Zion,
has desired it for a dwelling:
“This is my resting place from age to age;
here have I desired to dwell.
“I will greatly bless her produce;
I will fill her poor with bread.
I will clothe her priests with salvation,
and her faithful shall ring out their joy.
“I will make a stock sprout up for David;
I will prepare a lamp for my anointed.
I will cover his enemies with shame,
but on him my crown shall shine.”
Glory to the Father…
Ant. We must follow the indications of grace and not force anything.
Canticle (Rev 11:17-18, 12:10b-12a)
Ant. We accept all things from the hand of God. He will give us the strength to support the trials which are in store for us. (1848 letter to Fr. Gaudet)
We praise you, God Almighty,
who is and who was.
You have assumed your great power,
you have begun your reign.
The nations have raged in anger,
but then came your day of wrath
and the moment to judge the dead;
the time to reward your servants the prophets
and the holy ones who revere you,
the great and small alike.
Now have salvation and power come,
your reign, O God, and the authority of your Anointed One.
For the accusers of our loved ones have been cast out,
who night and day accused them.
By the blood of the Lamb have they been defeated,
and by the testimony of your servants;
love for life did not deter them from death.
So rejoice, you heavens,
and you that dwell therein!
Glory to the Father…
Ant. We accept all things from the hand of God. He will give us the strength to support the trials which are in store for us.
Reading
All of you be of one mind, sympathetic, affectionate toward one another, compassionate, humble. Do not repay evil for evil, or insult for insult. Rather, return a blessing, because you were called for this, that you might inherit a blessing.
(1 Peter 3:8-9)

Canticle of Mary
Ant. We shall always look on Mary as our mother. (Constitution 10)
My heart is radiant, overflowing with joy,
for you have loved my lowliness.
You have shown me great favour;
all people will call me blest.
Your mercy extends throughout the ages
toward those who revere your holy name.
You have revealed your strength,
scattering the proud of heart.
You dethrone the powerful
and lift up the lowly.
The famished are filled;
the rich sent empty away.
Your people Israel you have remembered,
true to your loving kindness,
just as you have promised long ago
to Sarah and Abraham.
Glory to the Father…
Ant. We shall always look on Mary as our mother.

Lord’s Prayer
Concluding Prayer
Lord Jesus, your cross is at the heart of our Oblate vocation. Once again we need to contemplate your cross and suffering. Grant us the gift of living more profoundly in common the mystery of our salvation. In meditating on your passion, we also see what you live and suffer today in all our brothers and sisters. Teach us how to walk together with you in this world so that we may come to know the power of your resurrection. Amen.
